Dr. Robert McCormick Award
In 2019, the Latino Mental Health Association of New Jersey (LMHANJ) proudly established the Dr. Robert McCormick Award to honor the legacy of Dr. Robert McCormick, the first President of the Latino Psychological Association of New Jersey (now LMHANJ). Dr. McCormick, an original founder of the organization in 1999, made profound contributions to the field of mental health through his role as Director of the Center for Child Advocacy and Policy, Professor at Montclair State University, and a dedicated practitioner in private practice in Montclair, NJ. Dr. McCormick passed away unexpectedly in January 2014.

The Robert D. McCormick Award is presented annually to a member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to LMHANJ, with a focus on advocacy, training, research, and mentorship within the New Jersey Latinx community. This prestigious award recognizes those who have made significant contributions that align with the values that Dr. McCormick embodied throughout his career.

The Robert D. McCormick Award is announced at the LMHANJ Annual Conference, where we celebrate the impactful work of our members who are advancing mental health awareness, support, and resources in the Latinx community.
