Joel Núñez, PhD

Dr. Joël Núñez is a New Jersey-licensed clinical psychologist with over two decades of experience transforming lives and communities. A trailblazer in his field, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Psychology from Drew University in 1996 and went on to secure a full scholarship to Penn State University, where he completed his Ph.D. in Adult Clinical Psychology in 2003. During his academic journey, Dr. Núñez was recognized as a Soros Fellow for New Americans, a prestigious honor celebrating his exceptional scholarly achievements and potential to influence public life in America.  


Dr. Núñez developed his clinical expertise during his internship at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/UMDNJ and further refined his skills as a bilingual psychologist serving diverse populations suffering from severe and persistent mental illnesses at the Meadowview Psychiatric Hospital and North Jersey Developmental Center. Licensed in 2006, he has since built an impressive legacy of service and innovation.  


As the founder and CEO of PROV 205, Dr. Núñez leads a multi-faceted firm dedicated to:  

  • Delivering professional, student, and parental development services to school districts, colleges, universities, and workforce agencies nationwide and internationally.  

  • Conducting forensic psychological evaluations and expert witness testimony in complex legal cases, including immigration, juvenile waiver, competency, insanity, and adult resentencing.  

  • Managing a thriving group practice in Bayonne, NJ, providing compassionate care to individuals, couples, and families navigating life’s challenges.  


Dr. Núñez’s work is driven by a commitment to excellence, cultural competence, and meaningful impact. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Núñez is a celebrated author of two impactful books, Get Out of Your Own Way and Enduring Impact, both of which are available in English and Spanish. Through his writings, he inspires readers to harness the power of choice and embrace a life of purpose.  A proud lifetime member of the Latino Mental Health Association of New Jersey, Dr. Núñez continues to elevate mental health awareness within the Latino community. His story, one of perseverance and dedication, serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration. Dr. Núñez resides in northern New Jersey with his wife Deyanira and three children Nia, Lucas and Mateo, cherishing family as the foundation of his enduring legacy.
